I Broke up with Him

Every girl wants to feel loved, trusted and secured in the one she loves and for me, I experienced that in a pretty much significant way from the first year of my relationship.

I didn't know what to think because it felt too good to be true. I saw someone who was ready to go miles for me, would stand for me and support me even when my decisions didn't make sense, listened to my crazy big dreams and encouraged me, couldn't bear to see me fall or fail-- physically and literally.

It was all good to be through so I decided I was going to see how much he loved me by breaking the relationship and seeing his reaction.

After sending this really long message about how I really appreciate the time we have spent together and the things we ran together and I wanted to break up, I didn't get a reply for up to an hour.

At this point, you can guess that I started panicking. I called my friend to call him, record their conversation so I would know what his mood was like through his voice.

His voice sounded off so I quickly moved to his house. As I entered, I saw him seated in a corner looking lifeless. I felt like I had stolen something from him. Maybe I did-- peace and joy because omo!

I couldn't fake it anymore so I just confessed that it was a prank and a kind of test to see how much he cherished the relationship.

You know, experiencing true love can look too good to be true and so when it comes, you doubt it so much that you think it's impossible. The same way we think it's extravagant that God gave His son to die for us on the cross. So we begin to look for ways to test and try the relationship, make it unbearable to see if the other person really values the relationship.

My prank or test might not have strained our relationship but when we talked about it later, it gave him so much panic, fear and sadness in that moment because he started to think of a lot.

True love exists. There are sons and daughters of God who are capable of loving you to the very depth of their hearts and would do anything for you.

You will not need to test them, you'd trust them to love you as Christ loves the church.
